Dinner & Decor: Sandy Mount House, Anglesey

Jan 15, 2019 | Blog

The recently opened Sandy Mount House located in the thriving yet relaxed coastal village of Rhosneigr has been making waves on Anglesey. Designed by Wilde Architects and the award winning Interior Designer Michelle Derbyshire, this interior design-led Anglesey based establishment has undergone one gorgeously stylish make-over!

With an investment of over £2million, this brand new luxury hotel, bar and restaurant has seen no expense spared. It consists of seven luxury en-suite hotel rooms, a restaurant holding 100+ covers, a stunning front of house bar area and a warm and welcoming outdoor terrace. What’s more, its’ set to be open all year round for local residents AND it’s child and dog friendly too! So, as the first part to the Mon Interiors ‘Dinner & Decor’ series, here’s oue Sandy Mount House decor review…

THE BAR & RESTAURANT

As an independent establishment, the Sandy Mount House has managed to retain the charm and appeal of the area and it’s stunning piece of coastline. It’s calm and cohesive colour palette of natural hues and accents of deep blues form the perfect base for layers of natural materials and foliage aplenty!

Think distressed oak beams, furniture made of time-worn leathers, wicker and sisal; sitting on the most beautiful sand-bleached herringbone parquet floor. Gorgeous striped Ralph Lauren linens signify a subtle nod to the stunning seaside location without devoting itself to a cliche all out nautical theme.

Polyhemp ropes drape the walls and oversized palms add to the chic beach house vibe, whilst the bar itself boasts the most sensational tiled face. It’s, without a doubt, our favourite feature of the renovation.

Our place of choice to get comfortable has to be what we call the ‘garden room’.  Ceiling windows allow for floods of light to shine through, making the perfect spot to hide away from the world. For example, in front of the laptop with a flat white in hand of course.

Winter months have meant we haven’t enjoyed the outdoor terrace yet, but, with on-trend Crittal doors leading out to a well-heated terrace, this will undoubtedly be Rhosneigr’s most sought after Summer spot!

HOTEL ROOMS

Thanks to Hef – a friend of ours and talented Head Chef at the Sandy Mount House – we bagged a grand tour of the rooms too. Boy, are the guests in for a treat! All rooms are en-suite with seriously gorgeous interiors.

En-suites are made up of Crittal shower screens, glazed tiles, patterned tiled floors, and panelled walls. These are dreamy. Really, really dreamy. They’re decked out with Molton Brown toiletries too! Every last detail really has been considered.

Rooms are vast. They have high ceilings, decorative coving, panelled walls and windows shutters. The beautiful sand-bleached parquet flooring continues and the beds; well, the beds are a big deal. Some are contemporary four posters, some are upholstered in sumptuous velvet; all dressed in crisp white Egyptian cotton, from nowhere else but duluxe brand The White Company.

THE VIEW

To top it off? The views. Above all, the famous coastal views of Anglesey really do top of this high-end experience. Designers really have utilised elements of Interior Design that improve our well-being, to create a truly casual, relaxing haven to socialise with friends and family.

To sum it up, the Sandy Mount House really has raised the bar for Interior Design on Anglesey. It really is the epitome of beach shack chic. Why not take a visit and comment below with your thoughts?
